Past Continuous (Passado Contínuo)
was + ing form
were + ing form
Usamos o passado contínuo para falar sobre eventos passados que passou por um período de tempo . Nós a usamos quando queremos enfatizar o processo contínuo de uma atividade ou o período dessa atividade . ( Se nós só quero falar sobre o evento passado como um fato simples , usamos o passado simples.)
Usa-se o passado contínuo com:
- Ações que estavam acontecendo em determinado momento do passado.
I was thinking about him last night. (Eu estava pensando nele ontem a noite.
- Ações que aconteceram enquanto outra coisa acontecia.
They were still waiting for the plane when I spoke to them. (Eles ainda estavam esperando pelo avião quando eu falei com eles.)
- Ações paralelas.
While I was driving home, Peter was trying desperately to contact me. (Enquanto eu estava dirigindo para casa, Peter estava tentando desesperadamente me contatar.
